The fibonacci method was discovered hundreds of years ago - these days it is still being used by stock market traders, artists - and even roulette fans!
There are several popular betting systems that roulette players apply to improve their overall experience when playing the popular casino game. One of the most famous is called the Fibonacci system, and we’re going to explain how it works in this article.
Fibonacci was the nickname of an Italian mathematician known for discovering a mathematical sequence. It’s usually represented as a sequence of numbers where each number is the sum of the previous two numbers.
For example, such a sequence, if it starts with 1, is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, etc. Of course, Leonardo Bonacci, which was his real name, left many other great mathematical theories. Still, it’s his eponymous sequence that made him popular, and the sequence is often used by stock market analysts, painters, and those who play gambling games, including roulette.
Interestingly, when you divide each number with its previous, you’ll get a number close to the golden ratio — especially once you get to the higher numbers in the sequence. The golden ratio is 1.618, and it’s widely believed to be the universal ratio for how nature was built. For example, if you divide your entire arm’s length with the length of your forearm, you’ll get a number close to 1.618. This applies to the way humans are built and the way things work around us. The ratio can be applied to flower petals, shells, mountains, and even entire galaxies.
Fibonacci is a betting strategy that’s only applied if you’re making even bets. The idea is to increase your bet for the next number in the Fibonacci sequence whenever you lose and decrease whenever you win.
For example, if you start your bet with $1 and lose, your next bet will also be $1 (because the two last numbers are 0 and 1). If you lose again, you’ll have to increase it to $2 and then to $3. As long as the losing streak continues, the idea is to increase the next number in the sequence.
However, as soon as you win, you’ll need to decrease the bet by one number in the sequence.
Unfortunately, Fibonacci is no different from other roulette betting systems that we have covered. It cannot help you gain an edge over the house, but it can help you manage your bankroll and better overview your winnings and losses.
In other words, even when you follow Fibonacci, the house edge will remain more or less the same, and it’s important not to get carried away when placing bets to avoid losing a lot of money.
Fibonacci was a brilliant mathematician, and he discovered a mathematical sequence that defines the world around us. But even though many roulette players use the sequence, it’s still not a guarantee that you’ll win. Roulette is a negative EV game, where the house wins over the long run - and no fancy numbering sequence can change that. Therefore, make sure to test the strategy out in one of the many great live online roulette games. In our experience, it’s a fun system, just don’t rely on it for winning.
